Overview:
Love, Rights, and Respect focuses on helping those who support individuals with IDD understand relationships, dating, and personal rights. This presentations encourages open conversation about respect, consent, boundaries, and safety.
Objectives: Participants will learn how support individuals with IDD in learning how to Have healthy relationships, communicate their needs, and recognize situations that may be unsafe.
This training meets continuing education requirements for social workers as prescribed by the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing Chapter MPSW 19.
Registration Change: All trainings occurring after May 15, 2026 will be processed through a new online system which will require payment via credit/debit card at the time of registration. We will no longer be issuing invoices for training registrations. About the Presenter:
Joe Aguilar, CSW is a social worker with Dane County Human Services-Adult Protective Services. Joe works as the I/DD victim advocate and investigator. Joe has been working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 2016; assisting them with making sure their voices continue to be heard, feel supported and ensuring their health and safety needs are being met.
Pam Malin • Pam has worked at the intersection of disability and abuse for over 35 years. She is currently working at Disability Rights Wisconsin as the lead advocacy specialist and project coordinator for the healthy and safe relationship curriculum. She has worked collaboratively with Multi-Disciplinary Teams over the years, including prosecutors, victim witness, investigators, forensic interviewers, first responders, human service workers, disability professionals, and community advocates to ensure that crime victims with disabilities receive the advocacy and support needed. Over the years it has become a passion of Pam’s to help individuals with disabilities become independent and live safe, happy, meaningful lives.
