Adaptation and Modification Program
(A & M)

The Adaptation and Modification (A&M) Project is run by Independent Living, Inc. in conjunction with Responsive Solutions and Dane County Human Services.  The goal of this project is to create safe and appropriate environments, which ensure an individual’s continued participation in community life.  A&M supports Dane County families and their children through the Family Support and Resource Center (FSRC).  We also support adults with developmental disabilities, through the Adult Developmental Disability system.

Projects involve assistance in making homes, apartments, and work places safer for individuals with behavioral challenges and/or developmental disabilities.  A&M staff performs the work personally when possible and utilizes the services of outside contractors, family or residential support staff when necessary.  We try to use pre-existing products when possible and always strive to blend any modifications into the current environment.
